"Her parents died when she was 7 years old and she was taken to Virginia City, Nev., by the Rev. Manogue. She was educated in St. Mary's Convent, where she became proficient in music and was the organist in the parish church for a number of years. Later she moved to Hollister, San Benito County, where she lived for five years with her uncle and aunt, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Sullivan. Mrs. Gorley took a great interest in the Catholic Church in Hollister, where she officiated as the organist in the parish church. After the death of Mrs. Ann Kearney, siste of Bishop Manogue, she remained at the episcopal residence with the bishop and ministered to him during his last illness. Mr. Gorley remained at the episcopal residence during the period prior to the appointment of Father Thomas Grace to succeed bishop Manogue."2,5

Frickey, Alderman of Waterloo Council, former Mayor, and well known auctioneer, who died suddenly at his home at noon yesterday, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Letter and Dresinger Funeral Home, Waterloo, to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Kitchener, for service at 2:30. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Rev. A.W. Lotz, pastor of St. Peter's Church, will conduct the services.
Mr. Frickey, who was 48 years of age, is survived by his wife, two sons, Walter Jr. at home and William of Erie, Pa., two daughters, Mrs. Laura Kufskie and Mrs. Ronald Clemmer, Kitchener, three brothers, Richard Frickey of Kitchener, Alvin Frickey of Rochester, N.Y., and Gordon Frickey of Erbsville, one half-brother, Charles Trow of Buffalo and one sister, Mrs. Henry Nixdorf, Kitchener.2

Information was given by her daughter, Bessie. She was listed as Mrs. Ellen Syron of 730 N. Sumner Ave., Scranton, Penn., also listed as white, widowed, housewife, born Ireland and parents born Ireland. Burial was to be on June 7th, 1938 in Cathedral Cemetery. Cause of death was hypostatic pneumonia and mitral regurgitation. She was seen by her doctor from May 28 - June 4th and died at 5pm.3
