Passed away at her home in St. Mary's, on August 11, 2016, while surrounded by her loving family, Rita St. Croix (nee White), aged 89 years. Predeceased by husband Ignatius, son Ronald, daughter Georgina, granddaughter Jackie, parents John & Martha White, one sister, seven brothers and sons- in-law Donald Bishop and John Boland. Leaving to mourn her sons: Ignatius (Debbie), Harold, Paul (Pam) and Eugene; daughters: Christine Smith (Cal), Jeanette Boland, Marion Bishop, Diane Hearn (Wayne), Shirley Fagan (Kevin) and Rhona Bishop (Paul). twenty-three grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, sister Patricia Luby (Russ), daughter-in-law Monica St. Croix, son-in-law Casimir Dobbin; sisters-in law Carmel St. Croix, Bernadette Duggan, Marg Singleton, Veronica White and Lorraine St. Croix, her dear care givers Elaine White and Eileen St. Croix, special friend Betty St. Croix and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Gibbons Funeral Home, St. Mary's, on Saturday, August 13, from 7 - 9pm and Sunday, August 14, 2 - 9pm (No visitation on Monday). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 15, at 10am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of NL.
Mother you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide,
although we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Russell White, beloved husband of the late Ida Marshall, died at North Bay General Hospital Scollard Site, Monday, September 23, 1996, in his 86th year.
Loving father of Elizabeth White of Cochrane, Alberta, Carmel Follis (Ernie) of Orillia, Janet White of Edmonton, Connie White of Calgary and Russell Jr. (Rosslyn) of North Bay.
Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren - Jennifer, Lindsay, Robyn, Brock, Jessie, Jordan and Victoria Ida.
Loving brother of Sr. Mary Corona.
Predeceased by his parents; Alice and Richard White, a sister; Marguerite Patterson, and brothers; Clarence White, Edmund Wyse and James Wyse.
Mr. Russell White was a probation and parole officer with the Ministry of Solicitor General and Correctional Services and was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Assn. 406 Wing.

Predeceased by first husband Patrick St. Croix; second husband Peter Murphy; son Joseph (Rachael); daughters: Nellie and Doris; parents, Stephen and Rose Williams; three sisters and four brothers. Leaving to mourn three sons: Mike (Mae), Willie (Clare), Basil (Irene); four daughters: Maureen (Dan), Winnie, Kate (Jim), Marge (John); brother Henry (Mercedes); brother-in-law Alban Ryan; sons-in-law: John St. Croix, Brian Fleming, Eddie Rohan; 37 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many other family and friends. Resting at Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, June 21, 2007, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s. Passed peacefully away at home in the arms of her loving husband surrounded by her children, on Monday, May11 2020, Winnie St. Croix age 88 years. Predeceased by parents Peter and Elizabeth Williams parents-in-law William and Harriet St. Croix grandson William Morrissey, brothers Andre, Gus and Ambrose Williams, sisters-in-law Carmel Thistle, Kay Carew, Stella St. Croix, Maureen St. Croix, June Butler, and Mary Williams, brothers-in-law Adrian St. Croix, Michael St. Croix, Hamp Cayson, Robert Godden, Peter Mackey, Bernie Scannell, nephews Darryl Williams, Randy Williams, Justin Frampton, Gus Williams, niece Brenda Giesler and foster-son Andrew Gulliver.

Leaving to mourn her husband, soulmate and dance partner of 62 years William (Bill) St. Croix, children Jacki, Wanda (Jim Lynch), Wynne Ann (Ronnie Taylor), Bill (Lori), Fabian (Carol), Susan (Don MacDonald), and Paulette (Gerald Morrissey).

Grandchildren Jimmy (Laura), Michael (Megan), Dayna (Steven), Tara (John), Jennifer (Adam), Megan (Tony), Kaytlyn (Jordan), Barry (Nikki), Brendan, Ashley, Adam (Carla), Jessica (Lindy) Candis (Travis), Curtis, Amanda (Lloyd), Juanita (Mark), and Brianna.

Great Grandchildren Kiera, Wyatt, Henry, Rory, Emmi, William, Tony, Margo, Blair, Jessica, Daniel, Autumn, Kaylee, Matthew and Brandon

Siblings Marg Godden, Betty (Joe) Frampton, Kathleen Williams, Doris Scannell, Andre Williams, Paula (Ed) Kelly, and Aiden (Madeline Williams), in-laws Mary Cayson, Bren (Peg) St. Croix, Ed (Bernice) St. Croix, Frank (Rita) St. Croix, and Roy Thistle. Chosen family Lucy Drew, Maddie Tremlett, Tammy Duffy and Rick Brushett. and lifelong friends Kevin and Lorraine Edney.

Mom was the rock upon which we each built our families. She blessed so many lives with her warm, caring soul - always demonstrating love, peace, kindness and concern for others. She loved to tend her garden at Hell Hill Pond and nourished her flowers as she had her children. Mom was a woman of great faith and whenever anyone needed God’s ear, they turned to her. Prayers to find something lost, prayers to get the job or get the promotion, she seemed to have a back channel to the Lord as all of her prayers were answered. She had a way of making everyone feel important and valued. It was her special charm that drew people toward her and those who knew her felt blessed and privileged to be part of her circle. She was a second Mom to many and Aunt Winnie to everyone.

Mom was a lifetime member of St. Kevin’s Choir, past member of the Catholic Women’s League, Girl Guides, St Pat’s Dancer’s and an Honorary Cadet.

Thank you to Dr. Annette McCarthy and Dr Leonard Phair who treated Mom with kindness and respect. To Mom’s nurse Tammy-Lee Joyce and her caregivers Tsitsi Loder and Karla Pilgrim who helped us care for Mom daily, we are forever grateful. Thank you to Father Jeffrey Kolonel for your spiritual guidance and to niece Gail Ridgeley for your steady hand and advice in guiding us through Mom’s journey Home.

Our family wishes to express sincere gratitude and thanks to our loving and large family and many wonderful friends who have reached out with kindness, love and support. You’ve always been there for Mom and for us and we love you all.

The wind offers promise for a better tomorrow and as Winnie often said “This too shall pass, it’s only while it’s passing..”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date.
