She came home on the "steamer" for a visit, took sick and was dead within a week from the "bad flu" as it was known. Death record indicates she was born in Point La Haye & was 24 years old (actually she was 21), Catholic. With broken hearts, we sadly announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Nana, Marilyn Marie Galvin in her 80th year. Passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital on December 12, 2016. Marilyn is reunited with her loving husband, William Galvin. Survived by her children Jim (Karen), Paul (Jacqueline), Cindy, and Mark. The lights of her life were her seven grandchildren, Sean, Caitlin, Alex, Aaron, Liam, Sarah, Maya, and Nicole (predeceased). Marilyn will be missed by many other relatives and friends, including her friends at the Sackville Hill Seniors Centre. Special thanks to Dr. B. Golda and staff, especially Irene; and all of the staff at St. Joseph’s Home Care for their compassion, especially Rodica, Theresa, and Joanne; and Christine from C.C.A.C.Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Ave.) on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 4-9 p.m. with prayers at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (416 Mohawk Rd. E.) on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Angela Newman announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the age of 48. She will be sadly missed by her husband John Hynes of 27 years. Daughter Rose Anna Colbourne of Corner Brook. Son Timothy Newman of Millgrove, Ontario. Grandchildren Jonathan-James, Jennifer-Rose. Father Leo McCarthy (Madonna) of Corner Brook. Sisters: Regina Williams (Ron) of Corner Brook and Mary Antle (Mike) of Nova Scotia. Brother John McCarthy (Karen) of Nova Scotia. Also surviving are a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Hilda Gillingham. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Mt. Bernard Avenue on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, 634-2500.¹
