Military*1776 From late in 1776, or early in 1777, John entered service as a volunteer and seved three tours of duty as a private. During the first tour he served four months in Captain James (?) Jones' Company in Colonel William Graham's North Carolina Regiment. During this time, he was stationed at McFaddin's Fort in Rutherford County for the purpose of ranging the country and "thereby to defend the defenseless citizens from the attacks of the Tories and Indians". From some time in 1780, about two months before the battle of King's Mountain, he volunteered for a second tour and served ten months in Captain Tutt's company in Colonel Leroy Hammond's South Carolina Regiment. He was employed as a ranger in North and South Carolina and was taken prisoner by Ferguson's Army but made his escape when the latter was defeated at King's Mountain and soon rejoined Captain Tutt's Company and Colonel Hammond's Regiment. A few days after his return home, he re enlisted in this same company for an additional three years but was relaeased from service after only four months following Captain Cornwallis' surrender.
The total amount of time verified for pension purposes was 18 months.3

"In the name of God, Amen. I, John Fisher of the county of Warren and State of Tennesse, being aged and declining, but of sound mind and perfect memory, do make this my last will in manner and form as follows:
Item: In the first place I give my body to the dust to be buried, desiring           that at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named. Secondly I give my soul to the Almighty God who first gave it to me and as touching my worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose of as follows: First I give to my beloved wife, Lucy Fisher one horse beast, one cow and calf, six head of hogs, six head of sheep, all the fowls we possess, one commom feather bed and furniture, one plow and plowing gear and pot and hooks and small oven and ______, half dozen plates, knives and forks, tea cups and saucers. I further lend to my said beloved wife, Lucy Fisher, one hundred and twenty nine acres, incluzed in three tracts, vis.; including the Kizziah Place where William Dunham now lives, during her natural life or widowhood and at her marriage or death to be sold by my executor, giving twelve month credit, and when this money is collected to be equally divided among my several children. I also give to my wife one cotton wheel and cards and one flax wheel and one trunk and one saddle and bridle. I give and bequeath unto my son Littleberry Fisher one horse two years old. I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Fisher one horse one year old and all the balance of my property consisting of cattle, hogs, sheep, household furniture and farming tools and all utensils to be sold as before mentioned, and when the price collected to be equally divided among my children, I further give and bequeath unto my Children, Consisting of Thirteen, the three hundred acres tract of land to be equally divided and appoint my friends David Fisher and Joseph Upchurch my sole executors to this my last will and testament revoking and disallowing any other will or wills heretofore made by me in Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.

In the name of God Amen. To whom these may concern know ye that I, Nicholas Fisher, Snr. of the State of South Carolina, Greenville County, being in perfect mind and memory but low in Body do make this my Last Will and Testament. In the first place, I give and bequeath my Soul to God that gave it to me and my Body to the Earth to be buried in the Christian manner. In the Second place, I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Elizabeth Fisher, one third of my lands, goods, and chatwels during her life. And after her deceas, the land to be equally divided between my two sons, Thomas Fisher and Nicholas Fisher. After my lawful debts are paid, unto my youngest son, Nicholas Fisher, Jr., I give and bequest one certain yearling horse colt now sucks the mare and my saddle and the rest of my stock to be equally divided between Thomas Fisher and Peggy
Fisher and Anice Fisher and Nicholas Fisher and I do make John Fisher and Thomas Fisher my sole Executors. I do give to my son, John Fisher, five shillings sterling money and unto my son, James Fisher I give an bequesth one shilling sterling money and unto my daughter, Mary Tubb, I
give and bequeath one shilling sterling and unto my daughter, Sally Cooksey, I give and gequeath one shilling sterling and unto my daughter, Elizabeth McVay, I give and bequeath one shilling sterling money and I do hereby revoke, disanul, and detest all other Will and Testaments and this only to be my Last Will and Testament given under my hand and seal this second day of April and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-four.
