Lewis Franks1
#2161, (1800 - )
| Last Edited | Jul 9, 2004 |
| Birth* | 1800 | North Carolina, USA1 |
| Marriage* | Principal=Dicey (?)1 | |
| Cen-Head* | between 1 June 1830 and 1 June 1831 | Marion County, Alabama, USA; Lewis Franks, living next to William and Elijah Franks who are in the same age bracket, may be brothers. Listed in his house are: Males 0-4: 1 5-9: 1 30-39: 1 Females: 0-4: 1 5-9: 1 15-19: 1 30-39: 1; Principal=AL Marion Co Census 18302 |
| Cen-Head* | 28 November 1850 | Beat #5, Marion County, Alabama, USA; There were two listings in Marion County for this family, one in Beat 5 and one in District 14. The discrepancies are that in the age given for Lewis, one as 30 and one as 50. I believe the 50 to be correct. Both state that Lewis was born in North Carolina. One gives the female's name as Llysa and one as Disa - both age 60 and born in Ga. In the 1870 census, her name is given as Dicey, born in NC age 79. One gives a female, named Josie, aged 21, and one a male, named Joseph, aged 22. I believe that Joseph is correct as there is a J. C. Franks, male, age 40, living next to Lewis and Dicey. Both give a female named Matilda, age 22, however, one lists her surname as Cheeks and not Franks. The Beat 5 listing states: Lewis Franks SR, head of HH #59, age 50, farmer, real estate $250, born NC, cannot read or write, living with wife and two of his daughters. Living close by is son, Lewis, (assumed relationship) in the Beat 5 listing.; Principal=AL Marion Co Census 1850, Resident=Dicey (?), Resident=Joseph Franks, Resident=Matilda Franks1,3 |

| Cen-Enum | 28 November 1850 | Beat #5, Marion County, Alabama, USA; Josie Franks, female, age 21, born AL, cannot read or write, living with parents, Lewis and Llysa, and sister (assumed relationships).; Principal=Joseph Franks, Principal=AL Marion Co Census 18501 |
| Cen-Enum | 28 November 1850 | Beat #5, Marion County, Alabama, USA; Matilda Cheek, female, age 22, born AL, cannot read or write, living Lewis and Dicey Franks who I assume might be her parents. It states she was born within the last year.; Principal=Matilda Franks, Principal=AL Marion Co Census 18504 |
| Cen-Head* | 10 June 1870 | Western District, Marion County, Alabama, USA; "Lewis Franks", HH No. 100, living next door to his son J. C. Franks (assumed relationship). Lewis is listed as 60 yrs old, white, male, farmer, born NC, cannot read or write. Living with him is Dicey (wife) and Amanda Patterson, a 53 yr. old white, female, with land and personal estate each worth $100, born in TN, cannot read or write.; Principal=AL Marion Co Census 1870, Resident=Dicey (?)5 |
| Cen-Enum | 10 June 1870 | Western District, Marion County, Alabama, USA; "Dicey Franks", white, female, age 79, born NC, cannot read or write.
